The Fatal Tradegy

Where are you going dad? asked Lucy Carlton.That question came from Lucy, a 11 year old girl who lives with her parents and her 2 younger brothers. Her father is a preacher in a small town church in Midland, Texas. Lucy is in for a treat with outrageous news that could change her life, and maybe her family.








One cold, snowy, December, Sunday afternoon, after church Mr.Carlton had been acting alittle awkward. Lucy didn't know if she was the only one who noticed it. He seemed mopey, uneasy, kind of sick. He didn't smile except for at church which was probably was fake. He mopped around. He didn't talk. Lucy knew something had to be wrong! So, at supper that night her dad finally spoke. But, the words he spoke were unpleasing. The words he spoke were these, Lucy, Caleb, Drake, Honey, I need to say something, He looked at Mrs.Carlton and then said, I got a letter from the Army, They called me on the battlefields, and I have no choice. Lucy's mouth dropped, Daddy? Are you serious? Caleb {the youngest} spoke really yelled DADDY!!! Lucy started to cry so she ran to her room. She was upset that her dad was going to leave her. She was afraid that her dad would die. She was scared.





The next Sunday her dad made the announcement about the Army. Lucy's best friend Emma looked at Lucy with amazement. People prayed for Her dad. She didn't want him to go but she still prayed for him though. If you think that Lucy is acting apprehensive her mother was worse. Mrs.Carlton was thinking of selling their house and maybe the car to get money so the could live on a more firm ground. Her brother Drake cared, [daddy's boy} he didn't want his dad to go. Everybody seemed that way.





It was the worse day of her life, her daddy was leaving. Lots of people were there. He wore his uniform and her hat. Lucy hugged her dad as hard as she could. She hugged him as long as she could. He finished hugging and giving kisses on the cheeks. He walked up the stairs slowly, he turned his head and waved. He yelled to Lucy I will see you in 11 months. She yelled aas tears ran down her face and with every breath she had I LOVE YOU DADDY!!! The stairs went up, she saw her dad, she waved until she saw the plane take off. She blew a kiss at him.





3 months later her mom sold the house and they bought a smaller house. She loved her new house. She wanted her old house back but this was only contemporary. The people who bought it was only going to be there 5 to 6 months, they were there for a bussiness trip. They promised not to change much. Her brothers hated it with all the mind and sole. She didn't want anything bad to happen to her dad and she prayed everday, everynight, every minute of the day. She loved knowing that a angel was keeping her dad safe, and that God was protecting him. It was an amazing feeling.





7 months later her mother got a letter from the Army. It said that her dad was in a tank and a bomb went off. They expected him to live just a little bit longer, it would be inpossible for him to heal. Lucy cried for hours and hours. Caleb didn't understand, Drake did and so did Lucy. Drake did not want to be the only man or guy in the house that could do anything for them.



Two weeks later her mom got another letter from the Army she thought that it would say that he died but it was the other way around, he had survived! It was amazing. Lucy thanked God every chance she got. Her dad came home the next month.



Lucy watched the plane land. She couldn't stay still! She saw a couple of men get off, than last her father! She ran out the door her father ran to her. she hugged him forever! He was scarred on his left arm and upper back. A little on the forehead. It was amazing to her father. She loved him so so much! She was excited to her daddy! She loved knowing that her daddy was safe, heathy, and well. They talked forever. They had alot to take about. Her family got the house back. Her father was free from the Army. She loved her daddy. The Carlton family was happy!
